I like the language teaching content, it is very good, but the app itself seems to have some issues. For example my review manager periodically empties without me having completed the reviews. Also if you press 'back' in the lesson menus, it will exit the app completely. Just needs a bit of polishing and it could be great! Full Review

Good for grammar but very slow. Duolingo is free and easier to use. Further to the response below, having paid a subscription fee (I paid £30), I would have hoped the developers could have made the app run quicker - it often takes 5 seconds to load a question. Also the lack of a shift key on the in app keyboard is an annoyance. These problems aren't present on Duolingo. Babbel is useful for learning grammar rules on the move though. Full Review

So far I really like it. Explaining grammar is essential and it does this as the lesson progresses. Also it's great to have everyday sentences like Stimmt so to say to a waiter. Nobody is going to tell me that kind stuff so that impressed me. Only thing that bugged me was typing answers. The odd time it did not submit what I typed and so I got a wrong answer even though I typed it correctly. Like a small bug perhaps. Other than that I'm enjoying it. Full Review

Not the easiest to get into but well worth the extra effort, beats Duolingo hands down because the corrections are explained and you learn the "why " the mistake occurred rather than just get corrected. No ads are a bonus and overall, better value by far! P. S. I persevered for nearly a year with Duo, then progressed much quicker with Babbel. Also the support was swift and effective when a bug occurred. Love it! Full Review

I am 50 years old and found this to be the most comfortable language app I tried. I like how it actually tells me the rules as we go along (other apps seem to believe that users will figure out the rules by the way it gets used. One kept telling me that I was 50% fluent, but I still couldn't formulate a sentance on my own. Full Review

I loved it! Amazing to help learn! One problem though (for me). You have to pay. I'm a kid and I want to learn French fluently but yeah.....if you can make a children's path where you don't have to pay but get less language that will be great! Otherwise, amazing app! Full Review

So far(I'm on lesson 3), it's been a great review of what I know. It's simple and progresses. It doesn't stay easy and I love that. Easy programs will hurt you in the long run. This course keeps you jumping. In real life you won't have supplied answers and so far this course seems like it will prepare you for that. I'll change the review if this changes, but I don't think it will. Full Review

I love this app it is the best language-learning app there is (at least it is to me). One problem though. I can't pay since I don't have a Google plus card so I can only do the first lesson. The creators have a genius way of getting you to remember the words and I would love it if I could do the whole course. Apart from that I love it. Full Review

Great app for on-the-go language learning. And an offline feature to boot. Babbel provides deeper learning with great explanations, tips and strict spelling checks. I have been using Babbel on web for a year now and this mobile app is a great companion. However, I have syncing issues such that my progress on mobile does not reflect on the web. Full Review

This has been the best app out there. I mainly use babbel on my computer but it is nice to use on the go. The lessons are fun and engaging. The only issue I have is the speech recognition. Learning Norwegian is difficult as is and it's upsetting to not even have your voice recognized and then marked wrong. Other than that I love it! Luckily my boyfriend speaks Norwegian and can help me with the speaking portion. Full Review

Intuitive and efficient. Uses all the learning styles like, audio, visual, logical. You can have feedback in real-time when you activate the speech recognition. And on top of these, the review manager helps you with the retention process. Repeating all the new words and phrases at given intervals, helps you to get familiarized with them and to "move" this new information from short time memory to long time memory. As I observe, the developers put their best in this application. Yet, the secret ingredient to learn a new language is motivation. How much do you have? Full Review

I find that some of the lessons early on are not well explained. When at first the message was clear and I really felt like I was understanding and learning then all of a sudden it makes me feel like you skipped 4 chapters and have no clue what is going on. I regret starting with a 3 month subscription. I'd recommend starting with one month. I'll keep plugging and hope it gets better in later lessions. Full Review

When I accidentally click out, and go back into the lesson, at the end the lesson doesn't show anything I missed before, so I don't get to reviews those items unless restarting entire lessons. Also, have had times where I get stuck on a page and I try every thing to get passed that page. The lessons are very long and the layout could be more smartphone friendly. I'd prefer more, shorter lessons for the reason mentioned at the top. Full Review

I started learning German with Duolingo then moved to Babbel. I've learned so much more and I understand the language a whole lot better. Instead of repetition and memorization, words are used in context and with practical sentences. If you're wrong you know why, instead of getting frustrated that for some reason you used the wrong article. I definitely reccomend. Full Review

From the first week you learn to make real sentences on functional things. Amazing how big dialogs you handle while playing. The reinforcement exercises come on the perfect intervals not to get boring and before the memory is too far away. If you stay focused, you will increase your skills every week. I'm using it for German. If you want to learn a new language, this is a great app. Full Review

Love the app and the techn withique. Using the app's keyboard is a problem in that it doesn't provide for typing accent or pronunciation marks, e.g., if you spell "Espanol" without using the ~ over the n, it scores you wrong. Puts you in a catch 22. Also, doesn't sync with my laptop. Full Review

It's amazing! I'm not very good at leaning things but I have already learnt some Spanish and I've only had babbel for a few hours! The reason I only gave it four stars is because I'm really bad at spelling and I some times use letters the wrong way round and when it comes to spelling out the word in the app it just expects you to know how to spell the word and that's it other than that it's an amazing app and I can't wait to learn some more Spanish! This app is very misleading. It gives you two courses for free and after that you need to pay a ton of money per month in order to continue.
