It has a neat, simple design that I appreciate. It's also fast and functional enough. I just wish they included the ability to play videos directly in chat, to view gifs not as still images, and to send videos in chat as I'm unable to do so. Photo and video quality could also use some work despite compression. Links also don't open correctly and that's if they even open at all. I hope this gets rectified soon. Full Review

Its alright I supposed but theres a lot of missing features that should be in this version thats in the normal version which is 200MN. Its stupid stuff like the abiltiy to send video or to change notification. Only reccemended if you need reduced phone space but use messeneger and or want a EXTREMELY more basic version of messenger Full Review

It's a lot better than the regular FB Messenger app. This app doesn't have a lot of things though. I'll list them: video calls, videos, gifs, stickers, reactions, bots, polls, Chat Heads, push to talk (like whatsapp), searching in conversations, changing colours or emoji, editing nicknames, report, ignore senders, Facebook Stories, Instant Games, proper notifications (it's not like the regular FB Messenger app does it properly though). If you don't need them then good for you. It's a deal breaker for me. What it does have is a nice, light and pretty UI, a small size, speed and supports older versions of Android. Unfortunately for those on Lollipop the status bar colour is white and the icons are white too so it's hard to see the icons. On older or newer versions it's easier to see notifications but it would be solved easily by making the top bar and status bar blue. I should also mention that yes, you can turn off Chat Heads in the settings of the regular FBM. Full Review

Works well, I much prefer it to the regular messenger. However, on my SGS5, my screen flickers and has trouble turning on with this app installed. Sometimes it takes a minute of just tapping the power button to get the screen to turn on. The problem goes away after an uninstall and a restart. Full Review

Invasive and annoying. This is a feature that was once part of the Facebook app but separated as an excuse to force people to use Facebook Messenger. It send fake waves and conversation invites to trick me into using it. It even wanted to replace my SMS app. Don't do it. Nobody worth talking to uses this crap. Full Review

Appreciate that it's a small sized app. But it puts in fake messages from my friends, which they haven't actually sent (like a wave smiley). So technically this app is more of a bot and a spyware. I strictly discourage others from downloading it, because nobody wants to end up having a made-up conversation. Full Review

Nice altenative to save data if you dont want all the extras fb messenger has installed. Has been reliable to send and receive messages, only thing missing is fb app fails to recognize this app, so redirected to play store when messages appear when using fb app, simple syncronization would be great. 🙄 Full Review

Crashed three or four times on first launch, then reactivated my Facebook account without notifying me (only knew it happened via automated email from Facebook). Deactivated my account again and opened the app, and now it's logged me out. You're able to use Messenger with a deactivated Facebook account, so why can't I use Messenger Lite in the same situation? Great for low memory devices. With the full version Messenger I was always having issues running out of memory. I had to decide what apps I wanted to install. I even had to uninstall some apps just to reinstall them later. I ended up uninstalling Messenger and when I went back to reinstall it I installed Messenger Lite instead. Now I have enough room for all the apps I use on a regular basis. Full Review

It's much better than the default Messenger app, for sure, but it could still be better. I keep getting notifications that I have a new message, but when I click on the Lite app, there is no such message. I click to make the notification go away, and it comes right back. Rather annoying, because you don't know when their legitimately IS a new, unread message. Full Review

Thank you! Messenger was my largest app at over 600 MB even though I talk to few on it and keep a clean inbox. But I would like the options like colors and nicknames and all dat jazz in settings here for fun and/or privacy reasons. I also was sad when the ability to save files sent to me such as videos was not present either. I understand many dislike the removal of chatheads, but i personally never use them because I always accidentally click a convo I didn't mean to open while playing a game or using other apps. I tend to get messaged the same moment I'm clicking where it will pop up lol Full Review

Sucks with links. Even Facebook links. And why does Messenger (and this lite version) often tell me I have a message (or two) waiting when clearly I have none?! This bug has been around forever and a day and still happening. At least Android 7.1 lets me clear the icon. But seriously annoying... fix it. No GIFs either. Ugh Full Review

Great that it's much less bloated than the full messenger, but with recent updates it seems to be heading in the wrong direction. I no longer have option to use simple emoticons and instead just have ludicrously large smiley faces, idiotic stickers, and utterly irrelevant cats! Ffs Facebook, please rein in your daft designers and keep things simple and uncluttered. Keep the useless nonsense for the full messenger app. Full Review

Fantastic app, low space required, none of the junk fb messenger has to distract from the intended purpose of text and calls. The only downfall unable to view videos. Other than that don't change anything. People if you want all the other rubbish like gifs, stories, chat heads, video calling blah blah blah download fb messenger again, leaving us to enjoy this basic app as it is. Full Review
