Learn to read sheet music and improve your sight-reading skills with Music Tutor. Develop your speed and accuracy in reading sheet music by identifying music notes in timed sessions. You can choose to practice between treble clef, bass clef or both for a duration of 1, 5 or 10 minutes. Music Tutor also helps with ear training and practicing your listening (aural) skills. During the practice session, every note is displayed along with the sound of the note (this feature can also be turned off if not necessary). After each test, you can review your mistakes and see your progress. There is also an option to set your difficulty level: The Easy level displays notes only the on the staff. The Intermediate level displays notes above and below 1 ledger line in addition to the stave lines. The advanced level displays notes above and below 3 ledger lines in addition to the stave lines. Music Tutor also supports Solfège (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si or Ti) and German note names.

Music Tutor also comes with a sheet music reference chart for treble and bass clefs that you can use to quickly grasp the name of all the notes.

Music Tutor comes integrated with Google Play Game Services. You can compare your points with that of your friends using leaderboards and see how you rank against other players worldwide. You can also earn new achievements as you progress in the game. With the latest update, you can play multiplayer sessions and your achievements now get recorded in your Google Plus profile!

Really great app for helping with learning to sight read. Does just as you'd expect. The progress tracker and achievement system (via Play Games account) help make a game of learning, giving you a target to aim for other than just improving sight reading skills. Previously I had said that the adverts and lack of a paid option costs this app the 5th start, but I've recently discovered you can get rid of ads by completing the included "quests". Once done the ads are gone so my review has been updated to 5. Literally no downside here, great app. Full Review

Great app!! I love it!! Great for beginners!! This app helped me to better understand how to quickly read notes. I noticed improvement within an hour of playing. Really cool. I've been a musician for ever, but have never been able to read a note of sheet music. I just didn't get it. Now with this app I'm really getting an understanding for how it works. I use this app and a music theory app. They're great together. l Highly recommend it. Suggestion: Add a mode with sound only and no illustrations. With the same view mistake option at the end. Would Pay for This App App is really nice great because it turns your studying notes into an actual game almost! I wish there was a way to make the ads go away, though. I can't stand them and would pay for this app in a heartbeat. Please give some option for people to remove the ads!! Full Review

The game aesthetically designed, simple to get, and very useful. A few suggestions though:- 1. Allow the option for landscape vs portrait use; 2. Allow option to toggle between the letter notes and piano keys; and 3. Allow option to toggle duration of sounds. Lastly, I don't know if it's an issue with my phone or the game, but the low A on Bass clef doesn't play haha. Full Review

Fantastic app. Been playing bass for around 12 years with multiple attempts to learn to sight read. This app has made my latest attempt a lot more successful. Being able to track your progress makes learning bizarrely addictive. Essential for all learning the clefs, regardless of experience. Full Review

Yeah great concept. I'm wondering how much the maker knows.... I don't know if it was autocorrect or if you really meant to call a staff a stave. The bass reference is my favorite because I am a treble player and it helps with piano Full Review

I like this app. It's a good way to practice Grand Staff because it switches back and forth between treble and bass. My only complaint is the input acknowledged tone. I don't like it and I can't seem to turn it off without also turning off the note sound. Full Review

Good, but flawed... Graph after game should be separated by time and difficulty. This would help to measure improvement properly. Score should take into account difficulty settings. It's either a tool to get better or a game. It's sort of halfway between the two. Full Review

DEVS PLZ READ!! It has lots of potential. Add key signatures that you have to name along with note, make a keyboard option at bottom instead of note names, add chords(in solid and melodic form) option with major, minor, dimished, dominant, arpeggios & scales(for minor scales you have to state if it's melodic or harmonic), etc. All of these that you have to state what it is and the key. For higher difficulty add degree, position, etc. Right now it's just an app for beginners to learn note names, not really beneficial for advanced pianists. I like the multiplayer option though. :) Full Review

Useful This app does exactly what it says it will do. You can personalize the difficulty and it even keeps track of your progress. I love it! My only complaint is that even when you disable the sharps and flats, they will still appear as options on the test, and accidentally taping them screw up my score. Full Review

Nice app, shame about the ads Immediately found the ads at the bottom distracting and the full screen advert that popped up was jarring and broke the flow. The app itself is great so if you can deal with them you've found yourself a great tool. There is a place to put a promo code that I presume would remove the ads(?) but I have no idea how to get one! Would consider paying for this. Full Review

This app is ok for what it does, but I would recommend the app to recognize which notes the user tends to mess up on the most based on their custom settings. F's and G's are usually where I struggle the most with, and I would love it if it targeted those notes for me. Otherwise its a good shotgun method for beginners to start practicing. Full Review

Great app It's a great app for learning. The only thing I miss is keyboard instead of score names. It would be more helpful to learn that way as it's more natural in reading music sheets than decoding it to score name first. Full Review

You know what would make it even better ? If it could take answer in the form of actual sound input from instrument that im using. You just have to analyze the frequency. Its not that difficult of a feature to implement probably. I hope it comes. Me inputing answer from the piano on display doesnt corelate to me actually learning to play that note on my instrument on sight. Thanks! Full Review

Good but too many intrusive ads. At times they get in the way of trying to use the phone or leave the app because of where they are placed on screen - there's one that is where I expect the home and back buttons to be, and it's not clear how to leave when that ad is there. Full Review

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this game is ADDICTING. I got this app to teach myself bass clef notes for a jazz ensemble. I wouldn't really consider myself a music nerd, but it's actually fun! It gives you quests, you can track your progress, and you can earn achievements if you connect your Google play games account. Very fun and very good at teaching music notation! Full Review

For piano, a very linear instrument, this app is confusing and possibly teach bad habits. Higher note buttons sometimes below lower note answer buttons since there is only one button for each note family. For instance, C in all octaves uses the same button. Thus, the middle G button is above both middle C (correct) and high C (incorrect). Full Review

Good but a little buggy It was good as a starting point but once and awhile it would give me a note that was neither sharp or flat and would mark it wrong and when I checked my mistakes at the end of the session they were all sharps or flats that were issues and I am positive that the note did not have a sharp or flat next to it on the scale. It may just be on my phone but if not hopefully they will fix that on the next update as I like the app. Full Review
