Video playback has become an issue. Whether on LTE or gigabit broadband, the app or website, the playback doesn't load, or it will buffers from 30 second to 2 minutes for just 3 seconds worth of footage. Camera's feed won't sync with turning them in our off. Previously the only issue I had was the notations received for motion due to light splash from passing headlights. List has grown unfortunately. The app is simple and easy to operate. What I take issue with enough to knock 2 stars off is the abismal HOME AWAY ASSIST. This "feature" is so hit or miss that I had have the last person to leave the house call me so I can just set the AC to away. It's a great device, but the terrible reliability of the away assist is the most frustrating issue I have encountered with Nest. Fix it and hope I don't lower the score any further! Slow to respond. I try to make adjustments to my thermostat and it takes a while to respond and switch to adjustments settings, I press and press and sometimes takes 20secs. I can see the buttons highlight when I tap but slow to progress Full Review

I press camera toggle switch, after a couple of seconds switch goes back to off mode. But I start hearing sound from camera! After doin something several times and restarting app many times, video comes, if I am lucky... As a programmer I am wondering how even this possible? this app starts receiving audio from camera while saying "your camera is off." and showing nothing?!?! Its like this for weeks and I use this camera as baby monitor. Should I consider this as a security issue? I bought this camera to check my baby without pain! This is NOT plug and use! Full Review

So far, the 3rd Gen Nest thermostat and the app have worked as expected. The app is designed for ease of use and be aware, the more Nest products you have the more the app can perform. With just the thermostat, it is all basic (as it should be). Really debating a Nest Aware Cam with Nest secure to boot. Their thermostats still list "efficiency" through a green leaf based on previous temp settings. According to their spokespeople, these have nothing to do with exterior temperatures, which are a REQUIREMENT for any real efficiency calculation (estimated or not). Simply figure out the heat transfer rates based on how often the system has to cycle on and off with a specific exterior temperature. Also, why the heck isn't there any graph of temperature history, let alone one that compares interior to exterior temperature over the course of a month?? Don't you think I'd like to see the effects of added insulation in the attic? As for their cameras, it's a huge engineering oversight to have the internal IR illumination source always on with the night vision, make it a user switchable function! Full Review

Works well when turning on heating remotely when I return from a trip and it's great to be able to set so many different temperatures in one day. However it struggles with figuring out if I'm at home or away and I regularly find it turned on for an entire weekend when no one is home. Would be good to have a widget on my home screen to be able to see if it's currently set to away or home and to be able to change it with a single click on the widget. Full Review

I really love your products but very disappointed that you do not allow for your app to be moved over to an external memory source. Your app is fairly large in size & forcing us to run it on limited internal memory is frustrating to say the least. The app is ok. Buttons don't work well on galaxy s8 in portrait mode. Need to push the buttons a couple of times for them to react. When phone is in landscape mode it works much better. My main issue is the home/away assist. Doesn't seem to work brilliantly using phone location. I have had to switch this setting on and off for it to update my location as being home. Phone has had my location correct when using Google maps and good data (LTE) connection. What I don't understand is why nest don't use the WiFi network as well as gps to see if your home or not. I.e. when the phone connects to same WiFi it sets you as home. I know this doesn't help detecting if you are getting close to home to start warming up; but my experience with this is that it shows both me and my wife as away when we are home anyway.. please sort this out nest! Please fix the 15 seconds forward or backward button. It hardly works and sends your video all over the place. When I try to go 15 sec forward it jumps back to the last time it saw someone. Also you can't zoom in portrait mode. I have 3 of these cameras and spend alot of money on subscriptions. Would like if the app was updated. Full Review

I really want more granular control of the permissions for family Accounts. I want my Nest Thermostat to know when my teenagers are at home via Home/Away Assist but I don't want them to be able to invite or remove other people to Nest home or any of the other permissions for that matter. Was working fine for a year but in 2018 something happened with my subscribed cameras. Reviewing footage is almost useless because of the choppy footage and load time on a gigabit connection from Verizon. Very upset as I had invested in many of nest products. Full Review

Your new app update is terrible! Extremely laggy. Takes awhile for it to load live view and even longer to look at recorded video. And even when you can view recorded video it constantly stops. Never had this issue with any previous versions of the app. Bring back the old version! Full Review

Please add an option to allow a temporary schedule event to be added for heating and hot water. We don't always follow a set routine every week. Also for the same reason please allow disabling/editing a weekly set event. These events are only temporary and will be discarded once it's in the past. Full Review

It's okay. It seems Nest, specifically the thermostat has lost it's edge to the now superior Ecobee. The Ecobee offering is far superior with the amount of reports and configuration you can do. The app does what you expect but it's very laggy and unresponsive at times. Specifically, using the thermostat e with it makes for very convenient control, but i have to somewhat repeatedly press the same button to get it to change temperature or switch modes. Also, it doesn't change to "away" mode automatically when i leave. So it's been a couple months now and 2 updates later and none of the issues I've been having have been addressed. Full Review

We have a Nest Thermostat and Smoke alarm. The thermostat is the device that we use this app for the most. Since the last update it seems to not be very good at figuring out when to switch to Eco mode when were not home, with delays of up to two hours to detect and switch. One day we were gone for over four hours and it didn't turn over to Eco mode at all. I tried to adjust the thermostat while not at home and it didn't work, it kept switching to our usual temperature. Very frustrating. I even tried reinstalling the app which did not restore the Eco mode detection to it's former glory. I'll change my review if these issues get fixed. I would love to see a longer, more robust energy history in app and have more user friendly scheduling options. Full Review
