Update: This is even better after the Oreo update. The new notification banner is a nice touch. Looks great and performs well. I have been using this app for a couple of years now and I have to say that it's great! It's easy to find podcasts and your can customize how many episodes to download and keep. The only issue I have is the latest update broke the widget which I use daily. Hopefully they will fix this soon! Full Review

Edit: After a lot of research I discovered a fix for my previous issue by changing the bluetooth version my phone is using. I am very happy about this because I love Pocket Casts and no other podcast app works nearly as well for me. I am going back up to 5 stars for this app. (Original review) My Phone recently updated to Oreo and Pocketcasts no longer sends track info to my car which is where I listen to all of my podcasts. I tested another podcast player and it does this properly as does my music player. I've been using Pocketcasts for years and love it but if this isn't fixed soon I will be switching. Taking a star off for this issue. Full Review

Dangerous app for listening while driving. 50% of the time it will not automatically go to next download when a download finishes. I've written many times to them complaining of this bug. They have written back every time that it's expected behavior, a user should manually select next item. They just don't see it's both illegal and dangerous to interact with a phone app while driving. How do I add podcasts that your search doesn't find? Primarily I'm looking for the Nerdist which you even have in a screenshot but I cannot get it... But I've also come across a couple others that I've searched for that do not come up. Otherwise so far I love this app over any other I've tried before. Full Review

My main problem with this app is the speed control. 1) you can't see the current value from the main screen, it is just a generic icon and you have to tap on it before you can see the value. Also to change the value you have to use a very finicky slider, which I found is dangerous to use while driving. Please update with simple up down buttons! Full Review

Great app, just one problem that is pretty big (to me, at least). Unless you completely disable all notifications for the app, it shows what you're listening to on the lock screen. This mean I also don't get notifications for when new episodes are released nor can I easily pull down the notification bar to pause a podcast. Other than this, the app is great. It's simple to use, you can easily search for new podcasts and it reliably syncs across all devices Full Review

Absolutely WONDERFUL app with excellent UI and customizable settings. Had to knock off a star because i can't add my own URLs for smaller or lesser known podcasts that aren't searchable via the in app search function. Will add a star once that issue is resolved. Full Review

Please add the ability to search for a keyword (episode title or within descriptions). This is a great app overall. I subscribe to a lot of podcasts and sometimes I want to look back for a particular guest or topic and it can be difficult to find without this function. Thanks! Full Review

At last a really good podcast app! I tried the free ones which had lots of function but we're ultimately dated in terms of interface and clunky to use. This is super clean, fast and easy to navigate. Definitely worth the small investment vs persevering with the inferior free options. Full Review

I was using Listen, but it was terrible. This program is an excellent replacement. The interface is clean and, most importantly, simple to add podcasts to! Worth the money for sure. 11/26/17: I wrote my original review more than five years ago. This is still my go to podcast app. It's still better than the competition. I thought about switching to Google Music, but damn, it was some trash. The amount for this app is small. Pay it and live the dream. Full Review

I use this app for at least 2 hours a day. I'm not sure what I'd be doing without it. The previous version had an issue where the app would crash when re-ordering my "up next" podcasts, but this new version has fixed the problem. Worth buying without a doubt. The devs really do care. Samsung S8: Love this app, works perfectly & well worth buying. Love The cute notes about updates too. To get controls on your lock screen simply turn on notifications (show on lock screen) for the app. Loses a star because I hate the red top banner, developer - need to be able to change this pretty please! My favorite podcasting app. However, there's recent changes I don't care for and would cause me to give it a poor rating. . . . on my main playlist the podcasts are eliminated after they're played. Please allow me to clean up the playlists myself. I often return to the list for shownotes, to re-listen, etc. I dont seem to have that option now. I habe often hunted through long schedules of older casts to add them to my playlist. Now, if I want to return to the podcast on my playlist it is gone! Please return it back to how it was OR instruct me how to enable cleaning up the list myself. Full Review

The app automatically marks all but the last few as already played, and if you try to change it, when the app syncs, it marks all of them as played again. I had only listened to a few in the middle, and couldn't get the app to do that at all. Also, when marking as unread, it doesn't always display the change unless you back out to the grid of podcasts. But it's a moot point because they get reset when the app syncs anyhow. Full Review

I'm a happy user for more than two years. It's hands-down my favorite podcasting app. However, recently it has been crashing my phone. I have been trying to make it work as long as possible. However, after crashing and shutting my phone down while listening eight times today, I'm facing the fact that I might have to uninstall. I did not have this issue three months ago, so perhaps think twice about updating. Full Review

The fact that we pay for something this buggy is everything wrong with the Android ecosystem. The web and mobile versions of the application run out of sync. On the web it can't access a growing number of subscriptions that it previously could and that it still can on mobile. However, on mobile it's now unable to pause and resume podcasts. On resuming, it kicks up an error saying it can't play the episode. If you revert to downloading it, it kicks up an error saying the file format is incompatible. This, by the way, for a file that was already being played. It's a terrible waste of time. I'm simply migrating my listening to source sites. Full Review

This is hands down one of my favorite apps! It works like it should. My podcasts sync between my phone and tablet easily and the ability to cast podcasts to my Google Home speaker groups is amazing! On top of all the features, the app looks beautiful with its elegant material design and smooth animations. The developers are quick to issue updates and fixes. I highly recommend this app. Full Review

It's hard to find much that I don't like about this app. It works effortlessly, has lots of features and looks great. Some features I wish that it had: a speed switch to toggle between the last chosen speed and normal (I listen with other people sometimes and it would be nice to have a quick way to slow it back down). The ability to see a list of podcast episodes without being subscribed to the podcast, and the ability to listen to a single episode without subscribing. A button that sent me money? 😀 Full Review

Some recent updates seem to have started to try and handle some of the inner working technical debt issues but I still have that nagging interrupt your playlist issue when it fails to play because it can't stream. The problem I was having was when you use wifi only download and you are on the road, it stops your playlist instead of skipping the podcast when there is a playback error. This is a safety issue when driving because there's no one touch way to resume. It shouldn't even stop imo to begin with, just keep going on with the next podcast. This app is great besides this issue. Full Review

Perfect podcast player.. one small suggestion/request though.... It would be great if we could have a small equaliser where you could use a slider to have more music in the left or right headphone.. this would be useful when using headphones and you've got kids around the house and you need to listen out. Seems like a silly request but otherwise an amazing reliable app!! Full Review
