Privacy is possible, Signal makes it easy.

Using Signal, you can communicate instantly while avoiding SMS fees, create groups so that you can chat in real time with all your friends at once, and share media or attachments all with complete privacy. The server never has access to any of your communication and never stores any of your data.

★ Say Anything. Signal uses an advanced end to end encryption protocol that provides privacy for every message every time.

★ Open Source. Signal is Free and Open Source, enabling anyone to verify its security by auditing the code. Signal is the only private messenger that uses open source peer-reviewed cryptographic protocols to keep your messages safe.

★ Be Yourself - Signal uses your existing phone number and address book. There are no separate logins, usernames, passwords, or PINs to manage or lose.

★ Group Chat. Signal allows you to create encrypted groups so you can have private conversations with all your friends at once. Not only are the messages encrypted, but the Signal server never has access to any group metadata such as the membership list, group title, or group icon.

★ Fast. The Signal protocol is designed to operate in the most constrained environment possible. Using Signal, messages are instantly delivered to friends.

★ Speak Freely - Make crystal-clear phone calls to people who live across town, or across the ocean, with no long-distance charges.

Signal is not currently compatible with tablets, but support for larger screens is on our roadmap and will be included in a future release!

This app is wonderful and does everything I had hoped it would do. I appreciate the openness and the fact that there is also desktop support. I would like to see it synchronize more effectively with the BlackBerry Hub in the future; I can open a message in Signal, but when I open my Hub it still shows as unread. Also, if I a message is sent in Signal, it does not update in the Hub to show my sent message (which I acknowledge may be a security feature?) and only shows the message I had been responding to. Perfection once these things are seamless. Full Review

Great features...have used this app on a Samsung Galaxy and Motorola phone without any major issues. The only issue would be when you start writing a reply to a message outside of the app but don't finish it/push send and later go to the actual app to finish your reply what you wrote isn't there, but when I start a new message to my contact and open up our conversation in the app the message I started typing earlier outside of the app magically appears so then I have to delete that message so I can write a new one. This app is amazing if you want free and secure communication. It also works with regular SMS so you can message people who don't have the app. It's easy to use and secure. This app is a must-have! EDIT: One problem I have with it is that the calls display full screen, and that hinders family members and their app usage. Maybe have Signal draw over other apps? It seems the app doesn't deliver SMS messages sometimes. That is why I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5. Full Review

This is a very good app and I most of my friends are now using it. The calls are not 'Crystal clear." Sometimes a word will be missed or it will sound as though they are distant or in a tunnel but that doesn't happen very often. Also, I will be on the phone or it will be sitting doing nothing and it will say a 'person' in my contacts is using Signal when they were not trying to call or contact me but were calling or texting someone else. Other than that it is pretty good. Full Review

!I do like it. But find it a bit harder to.use than Whatsapp or Groupme. I miss having the ability to heart a message from another user, acknowledging it was read. A big deal for some group users. Is that so hard. The hard work done and encryption ate noted, appreciated, and a bow of respect given. Keep up the good development. You are never done you know. Out of almost 1000 contacts, I've just 3 users who were using it. I installed it on my wife's and daughter's phone to make it 5. How someone can't be using such a unique app - it syncs with your SMS just like how iMessage does for iPhones. This does it for all platforms. I've replaced my default SMS app with this one. Would love to see it succeed, and become more popular. Full Review

I absolutely love this app, but it's not getting 5 stars from me. I converse with both iPhone ans Android users. IPhone users are not interested in the app, as the contact list does not populate unless the user has registered the app. Unfortunately, to the general masses, security is less important than functionality, so adoption rate is LOW. fix this and get more users. My husband and I both downloaded this app and we're both having a hard time figuring out why the message and phone notifications won't work. Whenever anyone texts us or calls, we are not alerted. All the notification settings are on and our phones are turned up. What's going on? Very disappointed. I've never had this much trouble with a messaging app before. Please help. Full Review

It would be nice if sharing media was more streamlined, however the priority with Signal is security as far as far as I understand anyway. That's where it really does it's job. I primarily use it to communicate with people who have an Apple phone now that I have switched back to Android subsequent to paying over a grand 3 years ago for and iPhone 6 plus only to have it develop touch disease and subsequently become exceedingly slow - purposely by Apple. So I bought a new phone and a new tablet needless to say I didn't buy Apple products. I would recommend Signal to anyone looking for a high quality secure messenger application. Happy messaging :-) Full Review

No changes after many months with this problem: It doesn't push new messages. I always have to open the app, then it searches for new messages and ten seconds later I get them. A messaging app where I have to look for new messages all the time? Completely useless. I'm not the only one with this problem, three other friends with different Android versions told me about the problem, too. Full Review

I really want to like Signal. It has a slick interface, and I love their goal of making privacy usable. However, I'm not prepared to wait hours for simple "Can you get bread & milk on your way home?" messages from a family member. Delays of this sort are unacceptable for a messaging app. Full Review

Great amazing app..I love it. Only needs a private box, scheduled messaging, resending failed text by simply tapping on it on notification bar, message search & a favourites tab (esp this.. One need not scroll through so many text to find a text they would have marked) . Improve on customization for individual contact messages & the pop up, whether pop up for individual messages automatically closes or remains open after replying, automatic or no keyboard for individual message pop ups.. I transitioned to Signal after GroupMe was hacked. My group was looking for the most secure option, and this was it, even over Whatsapp (not as secure, and they keep a lot of metadata on you). But what has been really hard for my group is not being able to heart or like each other's posts, which we have realized the value of in it's absence. Yes, I am taking off two stars for this sole reason, because I think it is that important of a feature. Full Review

I formerly was in the beta program for Signal, but decided to drop out because I wanted to use Signal for all my SMS and general messaging needs (betas aren't really advised in that situation). The app is good, but I would like to be able to send video clips more readily. Other than that, I have no complaints. Despite the one shortcoming, I'm still giving it 5 stars because, well, this is one of the best tools available for protecting free speech and communication between individuals. Well done! It's the best and most secure call and messaging app. So good WhatsApp and Facebook use signals core code. However, they can't be trusted and have been shown to be able to break their own privacy when needed, but not signal. They are the best. Keep up the good work guys. Full Review

If you value privacy Signal is the best messaging app there is. Had I known it could replace my default text messaging app on Android I would have gotten it months ago. I've only heard good things about this product and company. Thanks to the devs, there are literally lives being saved for people who live under oppressive regimes. The world needs more security conscious apps like this that just seamlessly work. Full Review

When a contact uses signal and for some reason uninstalls the app there is no way the other person to know it and never takes your messages. Thats a very big important problem. Needs immediate fix. Other than that its the best app for communicating securely. This is a major! issue and you should pay attention to it because more&more people are complaining about it. Update. After a year or so it's not still fixed!!! If a person uninstall the app it should unregister him automatically simple as that. Full Review

I like that Signal is encrypted and seems to be more reliable than the standard Android text messaging app in terms of deliverability. It has some little bugs, namely sometimes it displays the wrong contact in a message thread which results in the user thinking they are replying to the wrong person. Also, creating group texts is a bit cumbersome Full Review

Okay, my husband adores this app and runs all his SMS through it, even to people who don't have Signal. It is his default SMS app. But, we just discovered that since Sept. 12, 2017 (was there an app update that day?), he has been receiving SMS through Signal, but none of the SMS he sends to non-Signal-using recipients are being delivered. I was able to reproduce this problem on my phone. We both have T-mobile Samsung phones, his a Note 5 and mine an S6. Is there a way to solve this problem so that Signal can be the default SMS app again even when we are texting people who don't use Signal? Also, it occurs to me that I am not sure if this is affecting our messages to everyone, or just to those people who are not using wifi with their phones. Thanks!! Full Review

WHEN TEXT SECURE CHANGED NAME, AND ICON I WAS DISAPPOINTED. WHEN SIGNAL CHANGED FROM SMS PROTOCOL TO GOOGLE CLOUD, I WAS DISAPPOINTED. THIS APP WON'T WORK WITHOUT PLAYSTORE UPDATES, AND PROBABLY WON'T WORK AT ALL IN TIME. GO TO FDROID FOR "SILENCE" WHICH IS THE SAME ENCRYPTION AS SIGNAL, ONLY WITH SMS PROTOCOL SO WORKS WITHOUT INTERNET, AND LESS PERMISSIONS, AND IS NOT DEPENDANT ON GOOGLE. NO SENDING LAG, AND OTHERWISE THE SAME EXACT APP, JUST NO SECURE CALLING, BUT I'D TRADE THAT FOR THE SILENCE APP JUST TO STIFF GOOGLE. THIS APP HAS GONE DOWNHILL AS ALL PRIVACY APPS ON PLAYSTORE BECAUSE OF GOOGLE BECAUSE OF UPDATES. THIS SIGNAL APP IS SECURE, BUT HAS NO SIGNAL. Full Review

The lack of features compared to telegram (and partly whatsapp) is a dealbreaker. You can't quote messages. No link or tweet previews. No message editing. Can't manage groups in desktop app. Can't change vibration intensity for group chats. No things like stickers Messages take up a lot of space, why not reduce the marging around these? Not the optional ability to show online status (possibly due to encryption?) Or "typing..." status. No bots, though not necessary. I get privacy has its costs, but this is almost too much. I've been using Signal for a while now and it was my favorite messenger until recently. I'm thinking about switching to something else and the only reason for this is: "Do you want to resend this message?" this question after a failed attempt to send a message is so fricking stupid and tedious because yes, of course I want you to send it and it's nice that you tell me that this attempt failed but I don't want you to stop trying because why would I? I often take the train which sometimes has spotty reception so this really is a regular problem for me. So if I have the choice between silent fails, but infinite tries until the messenger sends the message or being notified every time an attempt fails but having to approve every single retry? Then I'm choosing silence. Please fix this, I really like Signal and would prefer if I could keep it. Full Review

It's worthless! If you wanna use it as online messaging app, yes, will do, but if you set it up to use it as default text messaging app, is useless, as it needs wi-fi / data plan... simply put, you can't send text messages if you don't connect to the internet! I have wi-fi i use at home, i do not have a cell data plan, and i have free unlimited international text messages, so you get the point! Second biggest issue: when you're offline and want to add contacts from your contact list to the app, will not work unless you go online... quite fishy i would say. Anyway, due to unsupported (offline) texts over the network (SMS), i uninstalled. Be back when you'll get more serious! Full Review
