Summary of major new engine work completed in this new version:

4 years after the original release of Spades Free, we are happy to announce our single greatest improvement in play quality, after a prolonged period devoted just to Spades. This has always been a collaborative project shared with York University and has combined the best of AI research with game industry engineering to achieve the best result so far. In this last period particular attention was paid to bidding and the Nil game, but we also made substantial progress in the Joker variants and efficiency of the analysis. We believe that the end product was worth it. Discover the updated play for yourself!

We are looking to add more great features and game variants for Spades Free. Watch this space!

The opponents seems to know my hand. Their play is exactly adjusted as per this. This doesn't happen in real world. Update: the users when become my partners act different than when they are my opponent. one player as my partner kept bidding for 4 continuously when he could not win even 2 hands and we kept losing because i couldn't predict his overbidding. the same user profile set as my opponent played very wise and exact bid. although i noticed this is not correct with all users but it makes sense. tending to make the game harder doesn't mean i should lose with unjustified CPU behavior! AI Cheats. I had a strong hand including AKQ of Spades with partner bidding nil. I ran Spades and partner played, in order, 264 of Spades. Essentially, partner tried to set us. Partner was Don, one of the strongest rated AI players in the game. Ran into similar issue more recently with partner bidding nil and playing the 2 on my ace followed by the 6 on my 10 with the only other card out in the same suit was my 5. It may not be cheating by the rules, but when your partner works against you, it might as well be. Full Review

Many bugs. Partners doesn't always play the right card. Sometimes, you will need to undo a couple plays, and play another card to get it to play correctly. For instance, you may have to play a 7 of diamonds instead of an 8 of diamonds, even though an 8 or a 7 would not make a bit of difference in the outcome of the hand. Full Review

I totally love this game! However, I noticed other players can talk during the game but my avatar doesn't talk is there a way to fix that in the settings? Aside from that, this game is awesome especially how you have the option to choose to play with trumps. Full Review

I used to really like this app, I would win when I made the right decisions. But with the latest changes it's very difficult to ever win. I play the highest level, but the 5-star partners don't make 5-star plays or decisions. One would think that a top rating on a player means that they know what they are doing, and wouldn't make stupid choices almost all of the time. Full Review

I play with random players, either 4 or 5 star rated. Why can't they bid properly? Always bidding 4 and getting 2, maybe 3 tricks. Beyond frustrating, about to delete from phone. Full Review

The bidding and play use to be a lil suspect but what ever, its a mind numbing phone game that use to be fun. Now partner cuts my cards, plays low when bid nil, under bids, and shuts down after every hand, just stops. Oh well delete! I'll check back in a month or two see if its any better. Dang this was my favorite game too. Full Review

I have been playing spades for a number of years. I started out playing with human partners. However it's hard to find humans that want to play anymore; and when you do, sometimes they become overly excited if you make a mistake or if you lose. Competitiveness get in the way of all the fun. That's why I am so thankful for this app that I can play with computer partners. They are not always perfect and neither am I. We all mess up and get over it and keep on having fun. Thank you for developing this wonderful app. I can play the game that I love so much, in peace and have fun all at the same time. Full Review

Its a fun game but...real players dont play this poorly..your partners will make many dumb plays. Why would my partner spade when ive already won the hand and they are NOT spade tight. Why would my partner throw a king on an ace when he clearly has more cards of the same suit? This is NOT realistic. I can beat any cpu player you can make. Bring it, im ready Full Review

Very fun & addicting. The game play is an excellent simulation of real life/human play. I would give 5 stars if the difficulty levels were increased based on better skill/experience of partner instead of more difficulty for inexperience; it's counter-intuitive. Otherwise, GREAT game & graphics. Full Review

The game itself is ok but the scoring aspect does not work. The scores always apear to be pro the computer. In one game I had 1 trick under and received -70 but the oppenent scored 1 trick over and got 61. How is this correct?? Full Review

THE AI PLAYERS CHEAT! YES, THEY DO. I'm playing at 3:10am and "Bill" cheats. Had a hand where I cut hearts with a jack of spades and "Bill" played a 6 of hearts. But I "undo" the play and cut with a 2 of spades and "Bill" played a 7 of SPADES! Then he later in the hand plays an ACE OF HEARTS. You can talk all you want about the game being fair, and the CPU players don't cheat or work against their partners, but I have factual proof to the contrary. Amy is a horrible CPU player. DON'T PLAY THIS GAME! Full Review
